Some law enforcement agencies in northeast Tennessee say they're finding delays in delivery of ammunition.

Maj. Ronnie Adkins of the Unicoi County Sheriff's Office in Erwin said a year ago the department was shopping for price but now is buying based on availability.

Sheriff Kent Harris told the Johnson City Press he wasn't sure he could get enough rounds for officers to attend a SWAT school.

Johnson City Police Maj. Gary Younger said he went to the Internet to find ammunition before the budget year closed after the city's supplier hadn't delivered it in seven months.

Kat Taruc, a saleswoman at Crowder Vac & Gun Shop in Johnson City, told the newspaper there's a shortage because some people are hoarding ammunition, saying she knows of four people who have at least 8,000 rounds each.
