A former Claiborne County principal has been indicted on charges of child pornography and trying to meet an 8-year-old for sex.
Joseph Wayne Jennings, 53, is a former principal at Clairfield Elementary School in Claiborne County. He stands accused of attempted enticement of a minor, attempted production of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and possession of child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say Jennings thought he was chatting with a Knox County woman and arranging to meet her and her 8-year-old daughter for sex back in May. Instead, they say she was talking to an investigator with the Knoxville Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Prosecutors say Jennings arranged to meet the mother and daughter at a hotel in Morristown, in order to engage in sex and take images and video. Jennings is also accused of sending child pornography to the investigator and to the woman who tipped off the Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
