The day after a jury convicted Letalvis Cobbins of murder, word has come out that one of the attorneys first appointed to represent him has died.
Rick Clark died after a battle with cancer, according to Judge Mary Beth Leibowitz. His age was not immediately available.
Clark and Kim Parton were appointed to represent Cobbins at the same time. When he was hospitalized with cancer, Clark was replaced by Bruce Poston, who was later removed from the case due to lack of investment. Scott Green replaced Poston.
Clark, a West Point graduate, leaves behind a legacy of dedicated courtroom service.
"An outstanding trial lawyer," Judge Leibowitz said Wednesday morning. "He was a man of enormous courage in the face of his illness. He worked for his clients to the very last day."
