KNOXVILLE - It's one of the best ways to honor members of the East Tennessee community with cancer, the Subway Race Against Cancer  is coming up on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The race began 22 years ago and since then, it's helped raise more than $5 million dollars for education and care for East Tennesseans battling cancer.

On Oct. 27, Race Against Cancer co-chairs, Michael Holtz and now retired WBIR reporter Ken Schwall discussed the event on Live at Five at Four. Both men are cancer survivors and credit early detection as the key in their battles with the disease.

Registration continues online for the event, which supports Covenant Health's Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Late online registration ends at noon on Nov. 9. The cost is $35 for adults, $15 for kids 18 and under.

Race day registration will be available onsite starting at 1 p.m. Nov. 13.
