Three children found in home with meth lab

(WBIR) - Three children were taken to the hospital on Monday after being found in a home with an active meth lab.

The KCSO Narcotics Unit took four people into custody after discovering a meth lab at 5509 Scenicwood Road in North Knox County around 4:06 p.m. Monday.

Twenty-six-year-old Leslie Mendez, 47-year-old Tammy Mercer, 18-year-old Emily Steinbach, and 25-year-old Johnathan Thompson are all charged with promotion of methamphetamine. Thompson is also charged with possession of a firearm and initiation of methamphetamine.

KCSO says the three children were taken by ambulance to East Tennessee Children's Hospital to be tested for exposure to meth.

No word on their condition.
