A 2,200-acre wildfire in Morgan County is contained as of Tuesday morning, according to a spokesperson with the Tennessee Division of Forestry.

BURN BAN: What is allowed?

Tennessee’s Assistant District Forester Nathan Waters said crews are still working to hold containment lines in the area.

Morgan and County county forester Jason Oshell said the smoke is too high Tuesday for crews to know if any of the containment lines have been broken. Oshell said crews will check containment lines once the smoke rises.

A code orange air quality alert is in effect for all of East Tennessee on Tuesday.

Gov. Bill Haslam declared a regional burn ban for 51 counties on Monday. The burn ban is in response to the ongoing drought and wildfires across the region. Haslam’s ban is in effect until Dec. 15.
