(WBIR) The Tennessee House is expected to take up legislation Monday night, which would protect winter holiday celebrations in public schools.
Senate Bill 1425, dubbed the "Merry Christmas Bill," would let schools mark traditional winter celebrations with displays like nativity scenes, menorahs, and Christmas trees. The bill would also allow greetings such as "Merry Christmas," "Happy Hanukkah" and "Happy holidays."
The senate unanimously approved the bill last month. State Sen. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville sponsored the bill.
