KNOXVILLE, TENN. - The UT Gardens and College of Veterinary Medicine are hosting their third annual Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo.
The event takes place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2016 at the UT Gardens on the agricultural campus off Neyland Drive. Activities will include a judged costume parade with prizes, children's activities, a raffle, food drive (pets), and an expo of educational booths, businesses and rescue groups.
The event will include a costume parade with special categories including:
Bad to the Bone (scariest costume)
Funny Bone (funniest costume)
Glamour Pooch (prettiest costume)
Pup Culture (pop culture/character)
Additional Bone-a-fido Awards (judges choice)
Dog owners need to make sure their pup meets these requirements:
Vaccinations should be current.
Make sure your pets are socialized to other pets, people, and costumes.
Prepare for your pets’ comfort (excessive heat or cold temps).
Limit participation of pets that are very shy or get stressed easily.
Make certain to have safe and sturdy pet restraint items (collar, leash, and harness).
No retractable leashes, please.
The event is free to attend. Parade pre-registration is $10 per costume entry (can include multiple dogs as one costume). Pre-registration ends Thursday, October 20 at midnight. Day-of registration begins at 1:00 p.m. and is $15 per costume entry.
In addition to the fun activities, they will also host a food drive (all varieties of dog and cat foods--canned and dry) to benefit the Pantry for Feeding Pets.
