Motorcyclist in critical condition after possible hit-and-run crash

Update 11:31 a.m.

(WBIR-Knoxville) A motorcyclist involved in a possible hit-and-run accident in west Knoxville late Monday night is in critical condition, according to a UT Medical Center spokesperson.

A witness told officers that David Parton, 26, of Knoxville was speeding on Middlebrook Pike and ran a red light at the intersection of Gallaher View Road. The witness continued driving west on Middlebrook and found the Parton laying in the road after he crashed just west of Old Middlebrook Pike.

Officers said a preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle may have struck another vehicle. Police believe the second vehicle did not stop. KPD said Parton was wearing a helmet, but was driving on a suspended license.

Crews drove him to UT Medical Center with possible life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to a wreck with injury involving a motorcycle on Middlebrook Pike just west of Old Middlebrook Pike shortly before 11 p.m. When they arrived, they found the motorcyclist laying in the westbound lanes of Middlebrook Pike.

Crews drove the motorcyclist to UT Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities aren't releasing the name of the injured motorcyclist until their family is notified.
