Teachers stocking up for back-to-school

(WBIR) Some Knox County teachers spent Saturday morning stocking up on supplies ahead of school starting next week.

They picked up pens, pencils, paper, folders and just about everything else at no cost at the Teacher Supply Depot.

The depot runs solely on donations and gives teachers the help they need to start the year, without having to spend too much extra.

"There's your basic school supplies, but there is also maps and charts and graphs and different things they can put up on their bulletin boards. And there's just some great material here to help teachers organize their classrooms and to provide them with the basic school supplies they need and also some great learning tools," Knox county Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre said.

Since it started more than a decade ago, the district said the depot provided more than $2.5 million worth of materials.

The Teacher Supply Depot will be open again October 18, January 24, 2015, and March 28, 2015.
