Willie Nelson writes song for Knoxville-filmed movie 'Dog Years'

March 2, 2017: "Dog Years," the film shot in Knoxville last summer, will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in April.

Willie Nelson has recorded a new song for the movie "Dog Years," which was filmed in Knoxville, according to Rolling Stone.

"To Get Here" was written by Diane Warren and recorded by Willie Nelson. Rolling Stone reports the song is the "centerpiece" of the movie.

"The pair decided to collaborate on the track - with Warren writing and Nelson recording - after watching the film," Rolling Stone reported Wednesday.

"Dog Years" stars Burt Reynolds, Ariel Winter and Chevy Chase, and was filmed in Knoxville last summer. The movie features scenes at Neyland Stadium, the Tennessee Theatre and on Market Square, among other Knoxville sites.

Producer Richie Walls, an East Tennessee native, told WBIR 10News the movie's script was actually rewritten to take place in Knoxville.

The movie premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City later this month.

"To Get Here" was posted on SoundCloud this week.
