Workplaces watch Vols' victory

(WBIR) Some people call it cruel the Vols would play at 2:45 on Friday afternoon -- during the middle of the workday for many.

"Definitely this occupies a little bit of the time during the day today," Chad McCollough with Capital Risk Management of Knoxville said Friday while watching the game in his office with one other co-worker.

Many took the afternoon off to watch the Big Orange, while McCollough stayed in-house.

"I think everyone else is watching it as well, so the phone isn't ringing that much," he added.

Other places around town did the same thing. The Knoxville Fire Department kept tabs on the Vols while monitoring calls.

"We're 24 hours on. It's 24 on, 24 off," said firefighter Billy Espiritu. "We get a call- we get in that mindset of 'we do what we have to do' first responder, fire. We have to take care of our job first."

However, that's to say their down time means staring at the screen.

"What else would I be doing today? Watching the Vols play," he added.
