The YWCA hosted its 30th annual Tribute to Women event Thursday. The organization honored 30 women from East Tennessee who have left a lasting mark both on the region and around the world.
One organizer says there was plenty of talent to choose from.
"There have been many throughout these 30 years. All of them have done great things for the community and for the world, but these 30 there was just something unique about them that we wanted to give them special attention on this anniversary," said Janet Jungclaus, YWCA board president-elect.
In past years they've honored about five to 10 women, but wanted to honor 30 this year for the 30th anniversary. That list included Pat Summitt, Mayor Madeline Rogero, Dee Haslam, and civil rights leader Sarah Moore Greene.
