Meth lab explosion, fire displaces 75 in middle Tenn.

MADISON – About 75 residents of a Madison apartment complex have been displaced after police say a meth lab exploded causing a two-alarm fire Saturday afternoon.

Madison couple, Kelly Wakefield, 27, and Michael Drury, 22, have been charged with arson and meth manufacturing after crews responded to the Alta Loma Apartments on Crestview Drive where police said the source of the fire was a meth lab.

The Nashville chapter of the American Red Cross opened a shelter at the Madison Church of Christ on Saturday night to house residents affected by the fire.

Our Nashville NBC-affiliate, WSMV-TV, reports the fire destroyed eight apartments before Nashville firefighters put it out.
