Salmonella victims upset no prosecutions yet

The victims of the nationwide salmonella outbreak that sickened hundreds and was linked to nine deaths are infuriated prosecutors have yet to bring charges against the company at the center of the investigation.

Legal analysts and food safety experts also say they thought prosecutions were imminent after the FBI raided two Peanut Corp. of America plants and Congress revealed e-mails from the company's top executive that suggested he was encouraging profits over public safety.

But nine months after the e-mails were made public, prosecutors have been tightlipped on whether executives will face charges. And that has left some relatives of victims mystified.
