Jail-bound former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will be treated as any other inmate, but because of his notoriety, he will be kept away from the general population at the Wayne County jail during his four-month sentence.

Sheriff Warren Evans says Kilpatrick will have the same basic amenities as the rest of the prisoners.

"The Wayne County jail and the cell where Mr. Kilpatrick will be staying in is no country club," Evans said. "It is what it is. Nobody wants to come back there."

Kilpatrick will be formally sentenced to 120 days in jail at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty in September to two counts of obstruction of justice and agreed to resign.

Kilpatrick could get a reduced sentence of 100 days in jail with time off for good behavior.

However, he will spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's in jail.

Evans said Kilpatrick will stay in his cell 23 hours a day, with one hour for recreation.

There's no television, but the jail will accept a donated one.

Kilpatrick, 38, was in his second four-year term as mayor when he was charged with 10 felonies in two cases.

In the first case, he and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty were charged with perjury, conspiracy, misconduct and obstruction of justice.

They are accused of lying during the 2007 whistle-blowers' trial about having an extramarital affair and their roles in the firing of a deputy police chief.

Text messages from Beatty's city-issued pager contradicted their testimony.

Last week, the courts released a 644-page document that included text messages that revealed a torrid romance between the two.

Kilpatrick also pleaded no contest to an assault charge.

He was accused of assaulting a deputy who came to serve his friend subpoena papers.
