Speakers at a candlelight service to remember those killed in a shooting rampage at a nursing home in Carthage gave tearful testimonials and thanked authorities who responded.
The Fayetteville Observer reported Sunday that the service was held Saturday night at Carthage United Methodist Church, nearly a week after seven patients and a nurse were kiled at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Among those who spoke was Margaret Neal, the mother of Wanda Gay Stewart, who's the estranged wife of the money charged in the shootings. Neal sobbed and wrung her hands as she explained that her daughter was not at fault.
Forty-five-year-old Robert Stewart faces eight counts of first-degree murder and one count of felonious assault on a law enforcement officer.
