The captain of Tennessee's 1998 National Championship team is back in Knoxville for a few days.
Linebacker Al Wilson grew up in Jackson, led the Vols to their first title since 1951 and spent eight stellar years in the NFL with the Denver Broncos.
Wilson will have a football camp next week, but he's in town early to visit with old friends, make appearances at the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Clubs, and to meet with Tennessee's new head football coach.
The former Vol thinks Lane Kiffin will be successful as the head coach of the Vols, and he has respected Monte Kiffin as a defensive coach for many years in the NFL.
Wilson also believes Tennessee safety Eric Berry is the best player in the country and is looking forward to watching his leadership on this season's team.
Wilson's football camp, "Camp Explosion", will be an all defensive camp set for July 9th through the 12th at U. S. Cellular Park in West Knoxville.
