KNOXVILLE (WBIR) - A person drowned in the Blount Avenue Quarry in South Knoxville Sunday evening. According to the Knoxville Police Department, an individual jumped from a cliff into the quarry and never resurfaced.
Knoxville Police, Knoxville Fire Department and the Knoxville Rescue Squad all responded to the quarry at about 6:45. KFD and the rescue squad conducted an underwater search. Crews found the victim dead in the area where witnesses said he had landed in the water, according to KPD.
Officials have not released the victim's name while family is notified.
A man died after jumping off a cliff into the same quarry in May 2014.
