College voter ID law killed in committee

A state Senate committee has voted to kill a bill that would impact thousands of college voters in East Tennessee. The proposal would allow college students to use their campus ID cards to vote.

The state's Democratic Senate minority leader sponsored the bill, but a senate committee voted to kill it 7 to 2.

The proposal would have amended the voter ID law passed three years ago. It requires voters to show a state or federal ID at the polls.
