The attorney for a candidate running to be the Monroe County sheriff is responding to a lawsuit filed this week against his client.

The Monroe County democratic party filed a lawsuit Wednesday against sheriff candidate Randy White and the election commission.

The lawsuit asks a judge to remove White from the ballot amid an ongoing scandal about whether or not he has the necessary requirements and background to serve as sheriff.

White's attorney Chuck Burks is asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit. He said the suit is a political maneuver to distract voters six days before the election.
