Nearly 40 people file petitions to run in Knox Co. election

Nearly 40 people filed petitions to run in Knox County during the 2014 county elections.

Among the biggest seats to fill are county mayor, several spots on the county commission and the sheriff.

Mayor Tim Burchett already filed for re-election. Knox County Sheriff J.J. Jones also plans to run again. He will face opposition; there are three other candidates. Joy McCroskey's seat as criminal court clerk is also up for election.

In order to make the ballot, each person must get signatures from 25 people eligible to vote in next year's elections.
