Sharon Lee named new chief justice

The Tennessee Supreme Court has a new leader.

Justice Sharon Lee has been elected chief justice of the state Supreme Court. She replaces Justice Gary Wade.

Neither are household names, but both were in the headlines for weeks leading up to last week's election. The lieutenant governor and other Republican groups were trying to get them kicked out of the court.

Wade, Lee, and Justice Cornelia Clark all won their retention votes. That race saw unprecedented amounts of political spending.
