Republican Senate nominee Bob Corker has been subpoenaed to give a deposition in a lawsuit over the way a Wal-Mart development affected a Chattanooga natural site.
Corker was Chattanooga mayor at the time the store was built, and his construction company sold land adjacent to the natural site for a Wal-Mart store.
The lawsuit contends the city and Corker's construction company failed to protect the land given to the city under a conservation easement that banned development when an access road to the Wal-Mart was built.
Corker campaign manager Ben Mitchell has said the lawsuit is politically motivated. Corker and Democratic Senate nominee Harold Ford, Jr. are on the November 7 ballot seeking to replace Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.
The Ford campaign denies any involvement in the lawsuit. A judge has denied a request by attorneys for Corker sought to seal all filings in the case.
