A Tennessee prison guard is charged with attacking a convicted child rapist behind the walls in Nashville.
Correction Department spokeswoman Dorinda Carter say corrections officer Joshua Barber was charged Monday night with aggravated assault and official misconduct.
Barber is accused of assaulting 36-year-old Jeremy Duffer, who was sentenced a week ago to serve 137 years in the repeated rapes of a boy.
Investigators said the victim was between 11 and 13 years old when the rapes took place. Duffer met the boy through his job as a clerk at a game store in the suburb of Old Hickory.
Duffer was arrested in September 2004 but jumped bail and was on the run for five months.
A judge sentenced Duffer last Wednesday and he was housed at the Charles Bass Correctional Complex, an intake center where newly-sentenced convicts are evaluated and assigned to a prison to serve their sentences.
Carter says Duffer didn't require hospitilization, but was evaluated by medical personnel at the prison, who found bruises.
