Stores, shoppers kick off Black Friday shopping on Thursday

Nov. 24, 2016: Some stores and shoppers kicked off their Black Friday shopping on Thursday, lining up hours early to get the best deals they can.

Several retailers opened their doors to shoppers early this year, bringing the Black Friday shopping rush into the last hours of Thanksgiving.
Toys "R" Us in West Knoxville opened its doors at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Some of the most popular items shoppers were looking for this year were Nerf guns, American Girl dolls, "Pie Face Showdown" and more.
Shopper Jordan McDavid says he likes the earlier hours.
McDavid and his wife joined hundreds in line at Toys "R" Us before the doors opened.
"We're going to get the drone that has the VR goggles," said McDavid. "I've had several drones before, but this one actually looks like it is going to be a lot more fun."
Many stores chose not to open on Thursday, instead deciding to wait to start their holiday shopping season on Black Friday.
You can find a list of those retailers here.
