THP: Don't leave children, pets in hot cars

(WBIR) As temperatures get hotter, the Tennessee Highway Patrol wants to remind people not to leave children or pets in the car.

Preliminary reports show that eight children have already died this year due to heat stroke. None of those deaths were in Tennessee.

Experts said temperatures inside a car can reach deadly levels within minutes on a typical summer day.

It's against state law to leave a child unattended in a car.
