TN soldier home just in time for daughter's 1st birthday

An East Tennessee soldier received a warm welcome home Wednesday afternoon.

Specialist Matthew Crabtree arrived home for 20 days of leave after a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. He serves as a medic with the 1st Armored Division based in Fort Bliss, Texas.

His family and friends greeted him at the airport with applause and plenty of hugs.

Crabtree's wife and baby girl couldn't make it to the airport, but he's looking forward to being reunited with them as well. He plans to spend his break getting to know his daughter, who turns one on Friday.

"It's an amazing feeling. I've missed so much -- she's walking now! You know, I've missed everything. Just trying to bond with her,
said Specialist Crabtree.

Specialist Crabtree says he's only seen his daughter for 30 days of her life, and he's looking forward to almost doubling that on this break. He also says it's good to see some green again.
