After months of planning, Pigeon Forge will soon welcome a new water-themed attraction to the Parkway.
According to developer John Joslyn, construction on Water Magic is set to begin in early 2011.
"This is not a water park, and it's not an aquarium. This is a concept we designed in our in-house studio and it's all about how people interact with water," Joslyn said.
The park will be located across from The Titanic Museum Attraction. In order to start construction, three other shows will close down.
"It's truly out of our control," said Fee-Hedrick Entertainment vice president, Jim Hedrick. The company operates two of the shows affected, "Kickin' Country" and "Magic." "Memories" located next to the two attractions will also close after January 1.
"We are not in a crisis mode. We were very smart, we knew this was a possibility. We warned our employees of the chance for a change," Hedrick adds.
The 40,000 sq. foot Water Magic attraction will cost more than $40 million. "We kind of looked at this like a Willy Wonka world... kind of a big glossy picture with vibrant colors, music, pure imagination. That's what this will be about," Joslyn adds.
It is expected to open in summer of 2013.

The creator of the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, John Joslyn, is announcing plans to build "Water Magic," a family water attraction, on the Parkway.
Saying that it is not a water park, Joslyn outlined some of the envisioned water experiences in a press release. From a 100-foot kinetic energy sculpture to the engaging Emporium Square presided over by "The Wizard," the attraction aims to live up to its motto of "Get Me Wet."
This is a large undertaking for Joslyn and his wife and partner, Mary Kellogg-Joslyn. The Titanic Museum Attraction had a price tag of $26 million. "Water Magic" is budgeted for $40 million.
Construction is planned to begin early next year. It is expected to open in summer of 2013.
