Some of Tennessee's congressmen took the House floor to honor Lady Vols Head Coach Emeritus Pat Summitt one week after she stepped down from the head coaching role.

"Coach Summitt's life should serve as a model for anyone to strive for. She is a fierce competitor, a selfless mentor and a dedicated advocate of women's athletics. I was glad to hear that she will still remain an important part of the program and I know all Lady Vol fans will look forward to her continued presence. I think we would all agree that if a Mount Rushmore of college coaches existed, her image would be etched upon it," said Rep. Scott DesJarlais

Congressman Jimmy Duncan led the effort to honor Summitt.

Representatives Chuck Fleischmann and Stephen Fincher also gave speeches praising her.
