White Pine man identified as motorcyclist recovered from lake

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified a White Pine man as the deceased motorcyclist recovered from Douglas Lake early Sunday morning.

53-year-old Jeffrey L. Hause was driving his motorcycle on Swann Bridge on 25W when he crossed the center line, side-swiped the bridge.  Hause's motorcycle traveled for two-tenths of a mile. 

Hause's body was recovered hours later.

Sheriff Bud McCoig says the Jefferson County Rescue squad recovered the body of a motorcyclist who was involved in an accident on 25W over Douglas Lake early Sunday morning.

According to the sheriff and Jefferson County dispatchers, the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed on the highway when it swerved to avoid a car on Swann Bridge over Douglas Lake. The driver of the car saw the motorcyclist hit a concrete barrier.

Sheriff McCoig says when the driver of the car returned to the accident scene, they couldn't locate the motorcyclist.

The accident happened around 2:20 a.m.

When rescue crews arrived on scene, they located the body of the motorcyclist in the lake.  The body was recovered around 6:00 a.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will release the name of the deceased when the next of kin has been notified.
