An investigation is underway into a shooting at a West Knox County home involving deputies with the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
According to KCSO Spokeswoman Martha Dooley, two deputies responded to a home Nubbin Ridge Road around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening.
"Two officers went to the door calling out the suspects name, he came to the door armed with a shotgun aimed at the two officers," Dooley said. "Shots were fired Rural Metro responded and announced that the suspect was dead on the scene."
Dooley said she could not disclose if the man shot at the officials.
Dooley said the deputies involved were not injured and are on paid administrative leave which is a standard policy.
The man was alone inside the house, Dooley said. She added that their department has been called to the home at least twice before for welfare checks.
The investigation continues.
