Decongestants with pseudoephedrine must be purchased directly from a pharmacist.
A Maryville man is behind bars after he attempted to flee from Drug Task Force investigators, and nearly hit an agent with his car.
It happened Friday afternoon outside a Maryville store.
The Blount County Sheriff's Office says agents responded to a call about a person acting suspicious while shopping for Pseudophedrine.
The sheriff's office says investigators then followed him to a second store. There, investigators say he shoplifted batteries.
The suspect tried to flee when officers confronted him outside the store. Nobody was hurt.
Officials say they arrested 28-year-old Brandon Lee Pence. Inside his car, they found the Pseudophedrine, along with drug-related items and other components to make meth.
Pence is now facing a slew of charges.
