Fire destroyed a Corryton home Sunday afternoon.
It started around 1 p.m. at a home on Coppock Road, according to fire officials with Rural/Metro.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but the flames and smoke destroyed the house and injured a family pet, officials said.
Firefighters rotated in and out frequently because of the heat and also battled some small grass fires that flared up near the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
