It will be another week before a Knox County man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend & employee will appear in a Roane County courtroom.
Shawn Smoot is accused if killing Brooke Nicole Morris and dumping her body in a rural area of Roane County. He was supposed to turn himself in in time for his arraignment on June 25, but failed to do so. He was eventually arrested in Mississippi last week and brought back to Roane County on Friday.
He is being held without bond.
According to the Roane County District Attorney General's Office, Judge E. Eugene Eblen has set Smoot's arraignment for Monday, July 9, 2012 at 9:00 am at the Roane County Courthouse.
So far, Smoot has not asked for a public defender. According to the Roane County Sheriff, Smoot had retained an attorney before he was indicted on first degree murder charges.
