People here in East Tennessee had a chance to learn more about how state transportation really works in our area.
TDOT Commissioner John Schroer joined more than a dozen city and county mayors from the area to answer questions at an open meeting Wednesday afternoon at the East Tennessee History Center.
In all, more than a dozen mayors attended.
Above all, TDOT says the event was about letting everyone know where to turn when they have questions.
"Our transportation system is more local than state. If you are driving through a road in your city, even though it's a state road, you consider it a local road. So we want to know what some issues are, what some concerns are, and the only way to do that is to get out and talk to people," said Schroer.
