Rain has forced a change in some scheduled roadwork on the Gatlinburg Bypass, and thought could affect Labor Day weekend travelers.
The work requires the Bypass to be shut down, and the park had planned for the closure to happen overnight. But on Friday, the park announced that because of heavy rain overnight, the northbound lane of the Bypass will close at 1:00 pm Friday. All that traffic will be routed through Gatlinburg.
The southbound lane of the Bypass will remain open until 9:00 pm.
Both lanes of traffic will be reopen Saturday morning.
