Dozens of people came out for the "27th Annual Symphony in the Park" fundraiser at Ijams Nature Center in South Knoxville on Sunday evening.
This event raised money for Ijams, and it's one of the non-profit's largest annual fundraisers. Guests enjoyed cocktails and placed bids during a silent auction that evening. Later, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra took the stage entertaining the guests.
All proceeds from this event went towards covering the park's operating costs and maintaining its 10-miles of trails.
Ijams Nature Center Development Officer Mary Thom-Adams said Ijams offers lots programs for local students and adults.
"We have an enormous array of programming to help people learn about the natural world," said Thom-Adams. "We have kids from all over East Tennessee coming in to participate in field trips that have science-based curriculums."
