SANAA, Yemen (AP) -- Al-Qaida's most active branch has suffered a serious blow, apparently from a U.S. drone.

U.S. and Yemeni officials say al-Qaida's No. 2 leader in Yemen was killed along with six others when their car was hit by a missile Monday. While U.S. officials won't confirm any involvement in the airstrike, Yemeni officials say their army does not have the capacity to carry out such precise aerial attacks.

Saeed al-Shihri had spent six years at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay.
