The principal of a Morgan County School has been suspended indefinitely without pay after "excessive" paddling of a student.
According to Dr. Edd Diden, Morgan County's Director of Schools, a complaint was made about Sunbright principal Dr. Elizabeth Boyd, and her use of corporal punishment on a kindergarten student.
School administrators investigated the complaint, and Dr. Diden says, "Dr. Boyd's use of corporal punishment was found to be unreasonable and excessive as defined in Morgan County Board of Education policy 6.314 - Corporal Punishment."
She was suspended indefinitely without pay on August 31, and Dr. Diden says she will remain on suspension until a final decision is made on her employment status with Morgan County Schools.
A decision regarding a Sunbright principal will be made soon.
