Interstate 75 in Bradley County was shut down for several hours following a crash that claimed two lives Monday morning.
A tractor trailer driver, 53-year-old Charles Morgan from Rutledge, and the driver of a TDOT work truck, 28-year-old Nicolas Feller from Ohio, were both killed in the early-morning crash.
A state trooper, Travis Ryans, was also injured in the multi-vehicle accident. He was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center.
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m.
According to NBC sister station WRCB and a THP Spokesperson, the tractor trailer carrying live chickens rear ended the TDOT work truck. The work truck then rear ended a THP patrol unit.
According to THP, the TDOT work truck and THP patrol unit were stationary in the left lane inside a marked construction zone.
The highway has since reopened.
