As cooler weather aproaches, it's time to start thinking about that heating bill.

The Tennessee Valley Authority and the Knoxville Utilities Board want to help save you money.

Look around your home. Is every door jam sealed? Every window closed? Are your air filters clean?

A simple "In-Home Energy Evaluation" could prevent you from spending unnecessary dollars to heat and cool your home.

The evaluations by TVA started in 2009.

To date more than 45,000 customers have taken advantage of the offer.

You pay about $150 up front, but could end up being reimbursed more than $600. They have a rebate program if you make the needed repairs to your home.

Also, there is a free online survey you can take to decide if you want or need the in-home evaluation.

"It's good for the environment, it's good for the economy," said Mike Bradley with TVA, "There's a lot of reasons to do this, it's the right thing to do. For TVA, it's important to conserve energy and trim peak demands. That way we can continue to deliver low cost, cleaner power for the future. So, that is why we encourage people to do it."

To find out more you can call 1-866-441-1430 to see if this is the right fit for you and how they can help you save money on your next bill.

Also, their Energy Right website explains how the evaluation and surveys work.
