A hospital provider and Scott County have reached an agreement. Scott County commissioners will vote on a contract Monday.
Scott County's only hospital closed in May. A new provider was chosen in July.
Now, Texas-based S.M. Promen and Scott County have worked out a contract, according to Scott County Mayor Jeff Tibbals.
Two main components run parallel in the agreement:
- The county would have the option to buy the property back if the company ceases its operations within the first two years.
- The facility must remain a hospital for the first six years.
"For us, to convey them that property, county-owned paid for facility, we had to have some assurance that it would operate as a hospital," Mayor Tibbals said.
Attorneys from both sides are ironing out minor contract details. Commissioners expect to vote on the contract Monday at 5 p.m.
If approved, Tibbals said the hospital could open mid-December or early January.
