A Cocke County man has pleaded guilty in the deaths of his sister and nephew.
Thomas McCusker pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter. That's a downgrade from the original charges of two counts of first degree murder.
Judge Ben Hooper gave McCusker the maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
Joanne Day and her son, Robert Day, were killed inside their home in Cosby back in March 2011. Deputies say McCusker confronted them with a knife.
He told investigators he was angry over someone taking beer out of his room, and upset over years of abuse
