According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation highway signs, the number of fatal accidents this year surpassed last year's total of 937 deaths.
This year 941 people were killed on Tennessee highways and roads.
TDOT began the Roadway Fatality Message Campaign in April 2012 to remind drivers to pay attention and drive safely on the roadways.
