No charges are expected after a woman hit a teenager walking on Jefferson County road Tuesday evening.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kathy Babbitt, 62, of New Market, was driving a mini van north on Nances Ferry Road. Just after 6:00 pm, she struck a 13-year-old girl who was walking in the northbound lane. Another 13-year-old walking with the victim was not injured.
The victim's name and condition have not been released.
The accident happened in a rural area with no lights or sidewalk. Trooper Jeff Coffey, who investigated the accident, offered these tips to avoid a similar situation:
1. Always walk facing traffic
2. Walk single file
3. Wear bright colored clothing in the daytime and light colored and/or reflective clothing at night to be visible.
4. Keep the volume down on iPods and portable radios to a level where you can still hear nearby warnings and dangers.
The crash is still under investigation. At this time, no charges are expected.

The New Market Volunteer Fire Department says a helicopter flew the girl to UT Medical Center.
Authorities haven't released any other details, including the girl's name or condition.
