Blount County officials have identified a body found in an area river. The Blount County Sheriff's Office says fishermen found the body in the Little River Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Old Walland Highway and Tuckaleechee Pike.
Officials have identified the man as 37-year-old David Houston Slaughter of Maryville.
An autopsy shows Slaughter died from drowning. The sheriff's office is waiting on toxicology results, which could take several months.
Authorities in Blount County are investigating after a body was pulled from the Little River.
A fisherman spotted the body around 2:15 Thursday, near the intersection of Old Walland Highway and Tuckaleechee Pike.
Investigators say the unidentified white man was in his 30's. They have released no further information.
