A 20-year-old Maryville man was killed when his car struck a tree after running off State Highway 95 in Greenback Monday evening.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol report states Christopher J. Smiley was speeding in a 1996 Honda Accord on Highway 95 at the intersection of Tennessee Avenue around 10:40 p.m.
An investigating trooper says Smiley was unable to navigate a curve driving his car off the left side of the road into a tree.
Smiley was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The report indicates Smiley was wearing his seat belt.
