Judge Blackwood denied a new trial for a man convicted in a mall shooting on Friday.
William Johnson was convicted in the 2008 shooting death of Ahmed Nahl. Johnson shot Nahl during a dispute in "Reno Menswear" inside Knoxville Center Mall.
Former Judge Richard Baumgartner sentenced Johnson to life in prison, plus 25 years, in 2010. Johnson requested a new trial. He argued that Baumgartner wasn't an effective 13th juror in his case. Judge Blackwood denied that motion on Friday.
