The Copper Cellar family of restaurants said it has stopped selling take-home beer at several of its locations due to state regulations.
Copper Cellar COO Bart Fricks said state officials are cracking down on restaurants selling take-out craft beer. Only breweries that meet certain requirements can sell take-home craft beer.
According to Fricks, about a month ago Copper Cellar stopped selling to-go craft beer at four Smoky Mountain Brewery and three Calhoun's locations. It will stop selling craft beer at the following locations: Calhoun's near Pellissippi, Calhoun's on the River, Calhoun's Marina in Lenior City, and Smoky Mountain Brewery in Maryville.
Fricks said these restaurants have posted large signs on their to-go refrigerators encouraging customers to contact their lawmakers to change regulations.
